Cookie Policy

Last updated:

This policy explains the cookies and similar technologies used on smart-qr-code.com, and how you can control them.

1. Summary

We use only strictly necessary cookies. We do not use advertising cookies, third-party analytics cookies, or social media trackers, and we do not track you across other websites. Because of this, no cookie consent banner is shown: under EU rules, strictly necessary cookies do not require consent.

You can browse the website and use the free QR code generator without any cookie being set. Cookies appear only once you sign in.

2. What a cookie is

A cookie is a small text file stored by your browser when you visit a website. Related technologies, such as local storage, also store small amounts of data in your browser. This policy covers both.

3. What we set

NameTypePurposeDuration
next-auth.session-token
(__Secure- prefix over HTTPS)
Cookie, strictly necessary Keeps you signed in between pages. Without it you would have to log in on every request. Until you sign out, or 30 days
next-auth.csrf-token Cookie, strictly necessary Security. Protects sign-in and account forms against cross-site request forgery. Session
next-auth.callback-url Cookie, strictly necessary Returns you to the correct page after signing in. Session
theme Local storage Remembers your light or dark mode preference. Never leaves your browser. Until you clear your browser data

These are set by us, on our own domain. None of them is used for advertising or profiling.

4. Scanning a QR code

Scanning a Dynamic QR code created with our Service does not set a cookie on the scanner's device. The redirect does, however, record information such as the IP address and device type — see section 3.4 of our Privacy Policy, which explains what is recorded and who is responsible for it.

Once redirected, you are on a third-party website that has its own cookie practices, over which we have no control.

5. Payments

Payments are handled by Paddle, our Merchant of Record. When you open the checkout, Paddle may set its own cookies to process the transaction and prevent fraud. These are governed by Paddle's own cookie and privacy notices.

6. How to control cookies

You can delete or block cookies through your browser settings. Blocking the cookies listed in section 3 will prevent you from staying signed in, so the account area will not work. The free generator will continue to work normally.

Most browsers describe how to do this under Settings → Privacy.

7. Changes

If we introduce cookies that are not strictly necessary — for example advertising or third-party analytics — we will update this policy and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent before those cookies are set. The date at the top of this page shows when it last changed.
