Get People Through the Door Faster

The queue at a conference door is almost never about people arriving too fast. It is about someone searching a printed list for a surname, spelling it out loud, and writing a badge by hand.

QR codes remove most of that. A code on the invitation opens the attendee's registration; a code on the badge holds their details for anyone who needs them. Below, what works — and, just as importantly, where a QR code alone is not enough.

Why It Works

No more surname roulette

The attendee arrives with their own code instead of your volunteer scrolling a spreadsheet at the door.

Badges that do something

A code on the badge can open a profile, a schedule, or contact details — useful all day, not just at the entrance.

Fewer printed lists

Agendas, floor plans and speaker bios move to a page you can correct an hour before doors open.

One code per session

Separate codes on each room door tell you which talks actually filled up, without counting heads.

How to Set It Up

  1. 1

Decide what the code should open: registration confirmation, agenda, session feedback, or the attendee's own badge page.

  2. 2

Generate the code above; for many attendees at once, use bulk generation from a CSV rather than making them one by one.

  3. 3

Print at 2×2 cm or larger on badges, and keep the area around the code clear of logos.

  4. 4

If you need to mark people as "arrived", pair this with a check-in system — see the question below.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use this to validate attendees at the door?

Not on its own, and we would rather say so plainly. We generate QR codes and count scans; we do not track who has already entered or block a second entry. For real check-in state you need an event or ticketing platform — our codes can point at it.

What is the point of a QR code on a badge then?

Quite a lot: opening the attendee's profile so others can save their details, linking to the agenda, or letting staff pull up a registration quickly. It replaces typing and searching, which is where door time actually goes.

How do I make hundreds of codes at once?

Bulk generation from a CSV: one row per attendee with their own link, and you get all the codes in one download, ready for the badge template.
