A QR Code on Every Document, Generated Automatically

If you issue hundreds of invoices a month, nobody is going to make QR codes by hand. The code has to appear as part of generating the document, or it will not happen at all.

Our API does that part: your system calls it while building the invoice and gets back a code pointing wherever you decide — the customer portal, the invoice PDF, a payment page, or a delivery tracking link.

Why It Works

Generated where the document is

One API call inside your invoicing routine. No extra step, no separate tool, nobody remembering to do it.

One code per document

Each invoice gets its own code, so a scan tells you which document a customer opened and when.

Repointable after sending

Dynamic codes mean a portal migration does not turn every invoice you ever posted into a dead link.

Fits your stack

A plain REST call with a bearer key, so it works from any language and any accounting system you can add code to.

How to Set It Up

  1. 1

Create an API key in your account and store it as a secret in your invoicing system, never in the document template.

  2. 2

Call the API when the invoice is generated, passing the URL for that specific document.

  3. 3

Place the returned code in the layout with a short label — "Scan to view or pay this invoice" — at 2×2 cm or larger.

  4. 4

Read the full reference on our API documentation page, including rate limits and bulk generation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you generate the QR code my customer scans to pay in their banking app?

No, and it is better you know now. Those use a specific banking format — in Europe the EPC/SEPA credit transfer QR standard — that encodes IBAN, amount and reference in a way bank apps recognise. We do not emit that format. Our codes carry a link, so the usual approach is to point them at your payment page instead.

What should the code on an invoice point to?

Most often the invoice in your customer portal, where they can see it, download the PDF and pay. For delivery notes, a tracking page. Whatever it is, make sure it works on a phone — invoices get scanned on the move.

How many codes can I generate?

The API is rate limited to 60 requests per minute per key, and your plan's total QR code limit applies exactly as it does in the app. For large one-off batches, bulk generation from a CSV is the better route.
