Put Plain Text in a QR Code
Not every QR code needs a website. A text code holds the words themselves, so a phone shows them as soon as it scans, even in a basement, on a ship or anywhere else without signal.
Type your text below and download the code. It is generated in your browser, with no account and no watermark, and it never expires because nothing depends on a server.

Why It Works
Works offline
The content is inside the code. Whether the text can be read does not depend on a connection or on any service staying online.
Never expires
There is no link to break and no account behind it. A code printed today will show the same text in ten years.
Private by design
It is generated in your browser and scanning contacts no server, so neither we nor anyone else counts the scans or sees the text.
Good for short instructions
Machine settings, a reference number, a door code for guests, or a short note on a parcel or storage box.
How to Set It Up
- 1
Choose the Text tab in the generator above and type your text.
- 2
Keep it short. A few sentences scan well; the longer the text, the denser the pattern and the larger you must print it.
- 3
Download the code and test it with your phone before printing.
- 4
Print it with a short line explaining what it is, so people know why they should scan it.
When Text Is the Wrong Choice
A text code cannot be changed after printing and cannot tell you how often it was scanned. If the content may change, or you need more than a few sentences, a link or a hosted PDF on a dynamic code suits better.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much text fits in a QR code?
The standard allows up to about 4,000 characters, but a code that full is very hard to scan. Stay under about 300 characters for anything printed at a normal size.
Does it work with Romanian, German or other accented characters?
Usually yes, but older scanner apps can misread some characters. Test the code with a couple of phones before you print it.
Is the text secret?
No. Anyone who can scan the code can read it, so do not use one for passwords or anything else that should stay private on a public sign.
